¿En qué consiste la devoción de las tres Avemarías?

En rezar tres veces el Avemaría a la Santísima Virgen, Madre de Dios y Señora nuestra, bien para honrarla o bien para alcanzar algún favor por su mediación.

¿Cuál es el fin de esta devoción?

Honrar los tres principales atributos de María Santísima, que son:

1.- El poder que le otorgó Dios Padre por ser su Hija predilecta.

2.- La sabiduría con que la adornó Dios Hijo, al elegirla como su Madre.

3.- La misericordia con que la llenó Dios Espíritu Santo, al escogerla por su Inmaculada Esposa.

De ahí viene que sean tres las Avemarías a rezar y no otro número diferente.

¿Cuál es la forma de rezar las tres Avemarías?

“María Madre mía, líbrame de caer en pecado mortal.

1. Por el poder que te concedió el Padre Eterno.

Dios te salve, María; llena eres de gracia; el Señor es contigo; bendita Tú eres entre todas las mujeres, y bendito es el fruto de tu vientre, Jesús. Santa María, Madre de Dios, ruega por nosotros, pecadores, ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte. Amén.

2. Por la sabiduría que te concedió el Hijo.

Dios te salve, María; llena eres de gracia; el Señor es contigo; bendita Tú eres entre todas las mujeres, y bendito es el fruto de tu vientre, Jesús. Santa María, Madre de Dios, ruega por nosotros, pecadores, ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte. Amén.


3. Por el Amor que te concedió el Espíritu Santo

¿Cuál es el origen de la devoción de las tres Avemarías?

Santa Matilde, religiosa benedictina, suplicó a la Santísima Virgen que la asistiera en la hora de la muerte. La Virgen María le dijo lo siguiente: “Sí que lo haré; pero quiero que por tu parte me reces diariamente tres Avemarías.

La primera, pidiendo que así como Dios Padre me encumbró a un trono de gloria sin igual, haciéndome la más poderosa en el cielo y en la tierra, así también yo te asista en la tierra para fortificarte y apartar de ti toda potestad enemiga.

Por la segunda Avemaría me pedirás que así como el Hijo de Dios me llenó de sabiduría, en tal extremo que tengo más conocimiento de la Santísima Trinidad que todos los Santos, así te asista yo en el trance de la muerte para llenar tu alma de las luces de la fe y de la verdadera sabiduría, para que no la oscurezcan las tinieblas del error e ignorancia.

Por la tercera, pedirás que así como el Espíritu Santo me ha llenado de las dulzuras de su amor, y me ha hecho tan amable que después de Dios soy la más dulce y misericordiosa, así yo te asista en la muerte llenando tu alma de tal suavidad de amor divino, que toda pena y amargura de muerte se cambie para ti en delicias.”

Y esta promesa se extendió en beneficio de todos cuantos ponen en práctica ese rezo diario de las tres Avemarías.

¿Cuáles son las promesas de la Virgen a quienes rezasen diariamente las tres avemarías?

Nuestra Señora prometió a Santa Matilde y a otras almas piadosas que quien rezara diariamente tres avemarías, tendría su auxilio durante la vida y su especial asistencia a la hora de la muerte, presentándose en esa hora final con el brillo de una belleza tal que con sólo verla la consolaría y le transmitiría las alegrías del Cielo.

María renueva su promesa de protección:

Cuando Sor María Villani, religiosa dominica (siglo XVI), rezaba un día las tres Avemarías, oyó de labios de la Virgen estas estimulantes palabras:

“No sólo alcanzarás las gracias que me pides, sino que en la vida y en la muerte prometo ser especial protectora tuya y de cuantos como tú PRACTIQUEN ESTA DEVOCIÓN”

También dijo la Santísima Virgen: “La devoción de las tres Avemarías siempre me fue muy grata… No dejéis de rezarlas y de hacerlas rezar cuanto podáis. Cada día tendréis pruebas de su eficacia…”
Fue la misma Santísima Virgen la que dijo a Santa Gertrudis que “quien la venerase en su relación con la Beatísima Trinidad, experimentaría el poder que le ha comunicado la Omnipotencia del Padre como Madre de Dios; admiraría los ingeniosos medios que le inspira la sabiduría del Hijo para la salvación de los hombres, y contemplaría la ardiente caridad encendida en su corazón por el Espíritu Santo”.

Refiriéndose a todo aquel que la haya invocado diariamente conmemorando el poder, la sabiduría y el amor que le fueron comunicados por la Augusta Trinidad, dijo María a Santa Gertrudis que, “a la hora de su muerte me mostraré a él con el brillo de una belleza tan grande, que mi vista le consolará y le comunicará las alegrías celestiales”.

¿Cuál es el fundamento de esta devoción?

La afirmación católica de que la Santísima Virgen poseyó, en el más alto grado posible a una criatura, los atributos de poder, sabiduría y misericordia.

Esto es lo que enseña la Iglesia al invocar a María como Virgen Poderosa, Madre de Misericordia y Trono de Sabiduría.

Para reforzar esta devoción contamos un bello testimonio de fe.

En un país situado detrás del «telón de acero», en el que, en los primeros meses del año 1968, se recrudeció la persecución religiosa, uno de los Obispos allí radicados recibió una misiva comunicándole confidencialmente que se preparaba un atentado contra su vida, por lo cual debía huir sin pérdida de tiempo y ocultarse.

Obedeciendo la consigna recibida, el aludido señor Obispo salió de su residencia vestido de aldeano y huyó a campo traviesa, caminando durante todo un día, alcanzándole la noche, divisando una amplia vega.

Aprovechando la oscuridad, se aproximó a una casa que vio poco distante y pidió a sus habitantes le permitiesen descansar unas horas sentado en una silla.

Los ocupantes de la casa -un matrimonio con varios hijos pequeños- acogieron la petición de hospedaje del que consideraron labriego viajero, pero no sólo le ofrecieron silla, sino que le hicieron cenar con ellos y luego le acomodaron en una habitación con buena cama.

Durante la cena, como notase el huésped gran preocupación y visible tristeza en el matrimonio, no pudo silenciar su observación y preguntó el motivo de tal inquietud y congoja; informándosele entonces de que el anciano padre de uno de ellos no había podido sentarse a la mesa porque estaba enfermo de mucha gravedad desde hacía unos días, y aunque le insistían cariñosamente para que hiciera conveniente preparación para la muerte, por si el momento de ésta sobreviniera, él les contestaba que todavía no iba a morirse, y, por tanto, no se preparaba…

Hubo unos breves comentarios del caso, pero ninguno se atrevió a hacer mención del aspecto religioso del asunto.

Retirados a descansar todos y transcurrida la noche, se dispuso el visitante y huésped a proseguir su camino; y al despedirse y dar gracias a quienes con tanta amabilidad le habían tratado, preguntó si le permitían saludar al viejecito enfermo, para comprobar el estado actual de su dolencia, a lo que, gustosamente, se accedió y le acompañaron.

Una vez el labriego junto al anciano, y luego de una corta conversación afectuosa, éste último, adoptando un gesto y tono decidido, dijo: «Mire usted, yo sé que estoy muy malo y que ya no me restableceré; pero, también sé que por ahora no moriré».

Al oírle hablar tan seguro, todos sonrieron al enfermo. Y ante aquellas sonrisas, añadió éste: «Se ríen porque he dicho que tengo la seguridad de que no voy a morir por ahora… Pues bien; lo repito. ¿Y sabe usted por qué?… Mire, yo no sé quién es usted, ni cómo piensa, pero como en la situación en que estoy ya no temo a nadie, le voy a decir la verdad:

Mi seguridad se apoya en que soy católico; los años de persecución religiosa no me han quitado la fe; y todos los días he rezado, y rezo, las Tres Avemarías, pidiéndole a la Virgen María que, a la hora de la muerte, esté asistido por un sacerdote que prepare mi alma para el tránsito, y usted comprenderá que habiéndole rogado tantas veces a la Santísima Virgen eso, la Virgen no consentirá que yo muera sin un sacerdote a mi lado; y como no lo tengo, por eso estoy tan seguro de que por ahora no me muero».

Emocionado el labriego por aquella declaración del ancianito, le tomó la mano y le dijo: «Esa gran fe que ha conservado, y esa súplica diaria a la Madre de Dios, rezándole las tres Avemarías, han atraído el favor del Cielo y ha sido la Providencia la que me dirigió hasta aquí… No es un sacerdote lo que la Virgen le manda, sino a su Obispo de usted… Porque yo soy el Obispo de esta Diócesis, que va hacia el exilio»

La impresión, y al propio tiempo el gozo, del anciano y sus hijos fue enorme. Tan grande, que no sabían cómo expresar su asombro y su reverencia…

Seguidamente, el señor Obispo realizó las confesiones, ofició la Santa Misa en la habitación del enfermo, y les dio a todos la comunión; dejando al viejecito espiritualmente dispuesto para emprender su postrer viaje con término en el Cielo…

Viaje que tuvo lugar dos días después de aquella Misa excepcional.
