A veces nos encontramos ante el Señor sacramentado y pasamos momentos de aridez, sin percibir su voz ni llegar a decirle nada. ¿Qué hacer? He aquí una manera excelente de ocupar parte del tiempo en las visitas al Santísimo: hacer una comunión espiritual.
Llamamos comunión sacramental el recibir el cuerpo de Cristo bajo las especies eucarísticas en la Misa o fuera de ella. Es este un momento inefable de unión e intimidad con Dios, por cierto el momento (o el acontecimiento) más importante del día o de la semana.
Pero resulta que además podemos encontrarnos con Nuestro Señor haciendo una comunión espiritual que podrá tener tanto o hasta mayor fruto que la misma comunión eucarística, dependiendo del fervor con que uno se empeñe y de la liberalidad de Dios.
La comunión sacramental se puede recibir hasta dos veces por día, si la segunda vez que comulgo lo hago participando de una Misa, según estipula el Código de Derecho Canónico, canon 917.
En cambio, la comunión espiritual puedo hacerla en todo momento, en cualquier lugar, tantas veces cuantas quiera.
¿En qué consiste la comunión espiritual?
San Alfonso María de Ligorio nos lo explica muy claramente: “consiste en el deseo de recibir a Jesús Sacramentado y en darle un amoroso abrazo, como si ya lo hubiéramos recibido”.
Esta devoción es mucho más provechosa de lo que se piensa y muy fácil de realizar.
“Oh Jesús mío, creo que estas presente en el Santísimo Sacramento, te amo sobre todas las cosas y deseo recibirte en mi alma. Ya que ahora no puedo hacerlo sacramentalmente, ven al menos espiritualmente a mi corazón. Como si ya te hubiese recibido, te abrazo y me uno todo a Ti, No permitas, Señor, que vuelva jamás a abandonarte. Amén”
Pero cada uno pude meditar y realizar la comunión espiritual sin necesidad de acogerse a una receta específica, aunque para que sea bien hecha, se recomienda que se haga:
Un acto de fe en la Eucaristía (creo que estás presente en la Eucaristía);
Un acto de amor (te amo sobre todas las cosas)
Un acto de deseo (deseo recibirte en mi alma).
Por fin, un pedido: (ven espiritualmente a mi corazón, permanece en mí y haz que nunca te abandone). Cuantas veces pensamos y hasta soñamos con cosas que queremos o que nos gustan. Es un imperativo de nuestro ser racional y volitivo. ¿Y cómo no vamos a tener en vista esa presencia tan benéfica que es, además, prenda de vida eterna?
Puede decirse que la comunión espiritual es un termómetro de nuestra fe y de nuestro amor a la Eucaristía. Y si no teníamos claro la factibilidad de esta práctica devocional, se comprende que no hayamos recurrido a ella; pero una vez que hemos comprendido cuán beneficiosa es para el alma, no tenemos más que hacerla parte de nuestros hábitos cotidianos.
Dice Jesús en el Evangelio que es preciso “orar en todo tiempo y no desfallecer” (Lc. 18, 1). La comunión espiritual es una forma excelente de oración que está siempre a nuestro alcance.“Ecclesia de Eucharistía” es el título de una encíclica del beato Juan Pablo II. “La Iglesia vive de la Eucaristía” y sin ella no puede existir. De forma real o virtual, debemos comulgar siempre con el Señor. La Eucaristía fue hecha para los cristianos y los cristianos para la Eucaristía.
Un pagano como el centurión romano (Mt. 8, 5-17) vivió la experiencia de la comunión espiritual cuando dijo: “Señor, yo no soy digno de que entres en mi casa pero decid una sola palabra…”. La comunión con el Mesías, a través de un acto de fe, de esperanza y de amor, obtuvo su conversión y la cura de su siervo.
Creer, desear y adorar… ¡ya es comulgar!
