Todo ocurrió en mayo de 1673. Según escribió la santa, en sus promesas está encerrado el gran misterio del amor de Dios: «Jesús me mostró cómo esta devoción es, por así decirlo, el esfuerzo final de su amor, el último invento de su caridad ilimitada»
La santa también cuenta: «Me hizo ver, que el ardiente deseo que tenía de ser amado por los hombres y apartarlos del camino de la perdición (…) le había hecho formar el designio de manifestar su Corazón a los hombres, con todos los tesoros de amor, de misericordia, de gracias, de santificación, y de salvación que contiene, a fin de que cuantos quieran rendirle y procurarle todo el amor, el honor y la gloria que puedan, queden enriquecidos abundante y profusamente con los divinos tesoros del Corazón de Dios».
Las 12 promesas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús:
- Daré a las almas devotas, todas las gracias necesarias para su estado de vida.
- Voy a establecer la paz en sus hogares.
- Voy a consolarlos en todas sus aflicciones.
- Voy a ser refugio seguro en la vida y, sobre todo, en la hora de la muerte.
- Voy a conceder abundantes bendiciones, sobre todo a sus empresas temporales y espirituales.
- Los pecadores encontrarán en Mi Corazón la fuente y el océano infinito de la misericordia.
- Las almas tibias se harán fervorosas.
- Las almas fervorosas alcanzarán mayor perfección.
- Bendeciré a cada lugar en el que se exponga y se venere una imagen de mi Sagrado Corazón.
- Daré a los sacerdotes y a todos aquellos que se ocupan de la salvación de las almas, el don de tocar los corazones más endurecidos.
- Los que propaguen esta devoción tendrán sus nombres escritos en Mi Corazón, nunca serán borrados.
- A los que comulguen el primer viernes de cada mes, durante nueve meses consecutivos, les concederé la gracia de la perseverancia final: no morirán en desgracia mía, ni sin recibir sus Sacramentos, y mi Corazón divino será su refugio en aquel último momento.
